Once upon a time ... Sandrine Charmeaux ! ...When I was a child I dreamt of doing 3 things ! 1- Look after wild cats in Africa ! ! ! 2- To be a jockey 3- To raise Pedigree dogs

After some considerable thought I said to myself that I would look after big cats in Africa when I 'grew up'.
I, therefore, turned to the animals in Europe which were more accessible
Having ridden horses since the tender age of four I am extremely fond of them At 20 I obtained my jockeys' license and proceeded to raise racing horses for a number of years.
The idea of the big cats always in the back of my mind.
Finally I arrived, not in Africa, but in South America (Bolivia) with the V.S.F. (Veterinarians Sans Frontiers) looking not after big cats but cattle.
I did, however, have, for domestic company, a female ocelot and a monkey named Bonny.
These moments are totally unforgettable.

Back in Europe I proceeded towards my third passion - dogs.

In 1987 I installed myself in a lovely cottage in the Loiret, about a 100 kilometre's south of Paris. The place is charming, calm and adapted to the art of raising dogs. The dogs have ample room to roam and play in one and a half hectare - what more does one want ?

At that time the Border Terrier was an unknown to the French public.
I was the first to promote the race and to invest in raising them on a continual basis and, therefore, living through the best, and the most fun moments.

We have now lived in perfect harmony together for over fifteen years...

During this time I have also been presenting Pedigree Dogs / Pedigree Cats within the programme 'Le Jardin des betes' on the television channel France 3, which is a weekly programme by the Doctor Pierre Rousselet-Blanc.
A lot of my dogs have come with me on the programme and have all been very well behaved.
I am the President of the Border Terrier Club of France which I created and am helped and supported by a number of friends who are also passionately fond of the breed.

The Border Terrier is an extremely versatile dog but first and foremost he is the best companion one could wish for.
A real dog in a small volume - he is simply remarkable.
His imitation of an otter and his good humour leave a sent of happiness floating around the house.
